This gate is on Jasper Street in Ishpeming Michigan, the two previous posts of the ancient knarled tree show a rock wall made of jaspilite. I did a Google search and came up with the following information. If you want to read an excellent report follow the link to the full article.

“Jasper Knob, owned by the Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company, a subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc, is located in a residential area at the southeast edge of the city near the intersection of Hill and Jasper streets. The knob rises to the north from Jasper St. and can be accessed through a five-step opening in a jaspilite-block wall (Vogtmann).”

“Jasper Knob is literally a small mountain of jaspilite – about 25 million tons of it Jaspilite consists of alternating layers of deep red jasper and bluish-black hematite (Vogtmann).”
