This is stunning! Wow! Nice work Kim.
The place was stunning! Other than that, our shots Sunday were lucky as we were losing light fast, sun setting behind the hill. This is normally a slow trickle in the summer, but in the winter Walla! It has become quite a popular location ofr people to visit on a warm Janaury day. There were over 30 people milling around. Thanks for the comment!
I want to go to the eben caves and was wondering if Christmas week is too early to vist them? I also understand that the 1.75 mile trail is a bit of a hike but would be willing to do it once. I am 62 yrs old and in good shape but if the trail isnt then suggest something else. I have been to the Munising rock ice climbs and hiking up that little hill didnt bother me at all. This year i am going south for Feb 1 so i realy cant go in the good time of March when its warmer.
Thank You.
I’ve never gone earlier in the winter season so I cannot advise there. I know there is seepage so not all of the ice is formed from exisiting snows and melt. The trail is usually pretty well-travelled so if thre has ot been a fresh snow it is easier to traverse. I brought along snowshoes and left them at teh car they were not needed. It might be useful to bring walking poles there is an area of the path that goes down hil and it can be dicey–again depending on how the weather has been. I would take a buddy with you. The first part of the trail is a long flat thru a farmer’s feild and then a long flat thru some gentle maple woods. The last part is a downhill that eventaully levels off a bit. Come to think of it–using Yak Trax on your feet might be nice. When I did this trail I was outta shape and near 180 pounds.Let me know how it goes for you! :-)
