Weather Note
As I wake I hear high winds and icy rain hitting the windows it is 37.8 degrees and the Weather Channel reports a wind-chill of 30. Snow is predicted. It is dark and no sign of a sunrise at 7:19 a.m. (sunrise is 8:19 a.m.). No, I will not be walking up the hill to school today.
I explained to a young mother the other day that we, our children and grandchildren are dealing with 4-wall syndrome. We wake up in the dark. We come home in the dark. It is difficult to see outside the windows and our time outside has become limited. This is creating a boxed-in feel. I never had the lack of sunlight affect me this early in the year.
More on Upper Peninsula weather later today.
My car had slush on the windows when I departed up the hill at 7:30 a.m.
Weather update, 3:07 p.m.
I depart Bothwell Middle School to bright sunshine and the remnants of raindrops on my windshield. I could walk home but then my car will be 3 blocks away at Bothwell and that won’t due tomorrow morning when I drive to Ishpeming High School. The temp is 41 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill of 35.
My studio is bright and blue sky and a scattering of fair weather cumulus clouds show out the window. I love the skylight, which also has rain drops drying, the light brightens this studio space.
Mike is hunting tonight and I can spend time writing, playing with digital images and maybe painting.
